There have been some weeks during 2015 when there has been a distinct lack of interesting or unusual new stories for The Weekly to get its teeth into. This week has not been one of them. However, with everyone’s attention now turning towards last-minute Christmas shopping or the annual pilgrimage to the local supermarket to top-up the drinks cabinet, we have resisted the temptation to do any of the following:

  1. Comment on Major Tim Peake's historic adventure to space;
  2. Discuss whether Chelsea were right or wrong to sack the clearly now 'not so special one';
  3. Debate the possible global implications of the first US interest rate rise for nearly a decade;
  4. Review the new Star Wars film;
  5. Worry that November was the warmest month on earth ever;
  6. Question whether anyone will remember the name of the 2015 X Factor winner on 1st January 2016;
  7. Discuss whether the new England rugby coach, Eddie Jones, has put together the right coaching team;
  8. Double check The National Association of Estate Agents and the Association of Residential Letting Agents’ prediction that the average price of a house in the UK will rise by 50% by 2025;
  9. Question CBRE’s latest research report suggesting that total investment in UK property is set to hit a record of close to £70bn for 2015; or
  10. Predict the winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year (which - for those of you sharp enough to spot last week’s deliberate mistake – is actually tonight!!);

Instead we felt that it would only be right to leave all this for another time and to focus on wishing you and your families a very happy Christmas and a prosperous 2016.
